Creative Housing Solutions For Our "At-Risk" Vets

Homelessness and poverty affect a large subset of America’s military Veterans. Currently, 62,619 Veterans are homeless on any night, and more than twice as many reside in a homeless shelter or in transitional housing.

American Veterans Housing Group, LLC works as the exclusive real estate operating consultant for Invest in America’s Veterans Foundation, Inc., a Cape Coral, FL based "Veterans-focused" 501 (c)(3) Not-For-Profit, to provide safe, dignified rental housing for the “at risk” Veteran.

Reaching Crisis Level

Veterans are over-represented in the nation’s homeless population. While around one in ten adults is a Veteran, one out of every six homeless adults is a Veteran. The reasons for this are complex; service-connected disability, traumatic brain injury, substance abuse problems, mental illness, and military sexual trauma, as well as other non-military factors, all increase a Veteran’s risk of homelessness.

A concerted effort reduced the number of homeless Veterans by 28 percent between 2009 and 2014, yet the problem is still large. Veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan are entering homelessness more quickly after discharge than Veterans from other eras.   More than half of Veterans using VA homeless assistance programs have been homeless for longer than a year.

Veterans’ homelessness is a national problem. They live in every state and can be found in cities, suburbs, and rural communities. Although the need for Veterans’ permanent supportive housing is widespread, it is more heavily concentrated in particular states as these charts reflect.

What the Invest in America's Veterans Foundation Does...

Studies have proven over the years that the concept of “Veterans helping Veterans” is critical to the success of the permanent supportive model.  By working in conjunction with the Invest in America's Veterans Foundation (IAVF), Patriot Housing Group has teamed up with dedicated and knowledgeable Veterans from every generation.  Sharing their knowledge and experience has aided in the rehabilitation of thousands of veterans and their families.

The Role of IAVF's Veteran Service Officer

Upon reaching a certain threshold of Veteran tenant occupancy, IAVF will provide an onsite dedicated Veteran Service Officer (VSO) in the area to support the VA case workers. We would also provide dedicated office space and meeting space at one of our area properties in order for the VA case worker to further create operational efficiencies.
